Steven Gene Linn, 50, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away from colon cancer Thursday, May 8, 2014, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa.
He was born July 23, 1963, in Audubon, Iowa, to Larry and Barbara (Umland) Linn. Steve was raised in Atlantic, Iowa, and attended the Atlantic Community Schools. He graduated from Atlantic High School with the class of 1982.
Steve was employed at Pizza Hut in Atlantic during his junior year of high school and excelled to assistant manager during his senior year. He later went to work for Oakland Foods in Oakland, Iowa, and Deter Motor Company in Atlantic for short periods before starting his 20 plus year career at Lindeman Tractor, Inc. in Atlantic.
He was a past member of the Wiota Methodist Church and a past member of the Wiota Volunteer Fire Department.
Steve was a loving, caring and dedicated father to his only son, Dillon. He had a very close bond with him that grew with his passion and knowledge of stock cars. Steve had a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T that was his first high school car that he was going to restore and give to Dillon. Aside from stock cars, his other favorite hobby was going to the shooting range in Exira with his dad, brothers and Dillon. Every Sunday morning he could be found sitting on the porch swing at his mother and father's home visiting with mom, discussing life and local gossip, until his phone rang, "Mom, I gotta go, a farmer needs a part".
He is survived by his son, Dillon Linn of Atlantic, IA; his parents, Larry and Barbara Linn of Atlantic, IA; his siblings, Kandy (Jerry) Hansen of Deridder, LA, Stewart Linn, Spencer Linn and Shane Linn all of Atlantic, IA; his nephews, Jerry James Hansen of Houston, TX and Joseph (Stephanie) Hansen of Baton Rouge, LA; other relatives and many friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents.
