Steven Lynn Petersen

Steven Lynn Petersen, the son of Leo and Evelyn (Nelson) Petersen, was born May 3, 1955, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa and died December 23, 2015, at his home in Carroll, Iowa at the age of 60 years, 7 months, and 20 days.
Steven was baptized and confirmed at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira, Iowa. He attended the Exira Community Schools graduating with the Class of 1973. Steven received a degree in electronics from Creston Community College then studied at Iowa State University for a short time. Steven was employed as an appliance repairman working and worked at Sauer’s Electronics in Story City, Iowa and Erickson’s Appliance in Nevada, Iowa.
On November 28, 1987, he was united in marriage to Lanette Black at the Federated United Church of Christ in Exira, Iowa. Two children Andrew and Anne were born to this union. They moved to Audubon, Iowa and Steven owned and operated his own appliance repair business named Steve’s Electronic Repair. In 1999, Steven moved to Carroll, Iowa and was employed at Pella Windows until he retired.
Steven was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Carroll and had served as the church treasurer. He also was a member of the Gideon’s. Steven was very detail oriented and enjoyed putting model cars and airplanes together. He enjoyed comic books, the Beatles, and antiques. He was very talented and continued his education at the Des Moines Area Community College in Carroll receiving an Associate Degree in accounting and entrepreneurship. He loved to help people and was instrumental as a sponsor at AA meetings and helping through the church.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his son Andrew Petersen of Audubon, Iowa; his daughter Anne and husband Levi Kluver of Gray, Iowa; his grandchildren Rylan and Maci Kluver both of Gray; his sister Janice Reiter of Iowa City, Iowa; his brother Dean and wife Debbie Petersen of Earlham, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
The family will have a Gathering with family and friends on Sunday afternoon January 10, 2016, at 4:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira, Iowa. Inurnment of the cremains will be at St. John’s Cemetery west of Exira, Iowa
