Susan Caroline Clemmensen

Susan Caroline Clemmensen, the daughter of Lee and Helen (Hansen) Clemmensen, was born September 29, 1951, in Carroll, Iowa and died October 16, 2012, at Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 61 years, and 17 days. Susan was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa. She attended rural schools near Hamlin, Iowa and then attended Audubon Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1969. She attended Clarinda Community College in Clarinda, Iowa graduating with an Associate’s Degree in General Studies. Susan then graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She taught elementary school in Macon, Georgia for a short time and then became a librarian at the Macon City Library. She returned to Urbandale, Iowa and was the children’s librarian and later she became the Audio-Visual librarian. Susan has remained a member at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa. She was a member of the American Library Association and the Iowa Library Association. Susan was very involved in her nieces and nephews activities and also her great nieces and great nephews. She was an avid hockey fan and also an avid Cubs fan. Susan was preceded in death by her parents Lee N. and Helen Clemmensen. Survivors include her sister Julie and husband Alan Derby of Greenfield, Iowa; her brother Paul and wife Janet Clemmensen of Urbandale, Iowa; her nieces and nephews: Andrew and wife Andrea Clemmensen of Waukee, Iowa; Scott and wife Vanessa Clemmensen of Saratoga Springs, New York; Laura and husband Andrew Kautman of Gilbert, Iowa; Stephanie and husband Corey Powell of Ankeny, Iowa; her great-nieces and great-nephews: Jackson and Nolan Powell, Jacob, Owen, and Mia Kautman, Taylor and Carson Clemmensen, Olivia and Julia Clemmensen; her step-mother Betty Clemmensen of Audubon, Iowa; her aunts and uncles: Howard Hansen of Audubon; Darlene Schrader of Lincoln, Nebraska; Milo and Delores Clemmensen of Audubon; Nadine and Jerold Heiken of Clermont, Florida; numerous other relatives and many friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa.



Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Thursday evening at 6:30 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Doug Opp on Friday, October 19, 2012, at 10:30 A.M. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa.
