Susan Elaine Nymand, the daughter of Melvin and Ruth (Robinson) Feigenbutz, was born July 15, 1957, in Atlantic, Iowa and died April 21, 2014, at the Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn, Iowa at the age of 56 years, 9 months, and 6 days. Susan was baptized at the Methodist Church in Lewis, Iowa. She attended grade school at Pymosa School north of Atlantic, Iowa and then graduated from the Oakland High School in Oakland, Iowa with the Class of 1975. She then attended Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa where she received a certificate in medical dictation. Susan was employed at the Atlantic Medical Center as a medical transcriptionist. On July 2, 1988, she was united in marriage to Robert Nymand, Jr. at the Brayton Lutheran Church in Brayton, Iowa. One son Jesse was born May 8, 1994. They lived three miles west of Brayton on the Nymand family farm where she enjoyed raising vegetables and flower gardens. Susan continued working at the Medical Center until she retired in the spring of 2012 due to her failing health. Susan was a member of the Brayton Lutheran Church where she was the Church Secretary and Sunday School Superintendent for many years. She was a member of the Audubon County Extension Board for many years. Susan was a 4-H leader for the Exira/Audubon 4-H Explorers. She was an active member of the Brayton Community Club and was instrumental in finishing the Old Glory Park Shelter. She was a Rainbow girl and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Susan was a wonderful wife, mother, and a great aunt. Susan is preceded in death her father Melvin Feigenbutz; her grandparents: Frank and Ila Robinson; and Anton and Maria Feigenbutz; and her brother-in-law Jeff Nymand. Survivors include her husband Rob Nymand and her son Jesse Nymand both of Elk Horn, Iowa; her mother Ruth Feigenbutz of Oakland, Iowa; her brothers and sister: Gary Feigenbutz and special friend Jenny Reynolds of Oakland; LuCinda and husband Scott VanTasell of Pella, Iowa; Bruce Feigenbutz; Daniel and wife Bonnie Feigenbutz; Steven and wife Lisa Feigenbutz all of Oakland; Todd and wife Jill Feigenbutz of Griswold, Iowa; her mother-in-law and father-in-law: Bob and Pat Nymand of Brayton, Iowa; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery west of Brayton, Iowa.
Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Wednesday evening starting at 5:00 P.M. with an Eastern Star Service at 6:30 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira.
Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Keith Menter and Pastor Steven Frock on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at 2:00 P.M. at the Elk Horn Lutheran Church in Elk Horn, Iowa.
