Terry Jean Rasmussen

Terry Jean Rasmussen, the daughter of Lloyd Melvin and Mary Ann (Miller) Baird, was born March 8, 1949, in Jefferson, Iowa and died July 21, 2016, at her home in Hamlin, Iowa at the age of 67 years, 4 months, and 13 days.
Terry was baptized at the Christian Church in Panora, Iowa. She attended The Panora Community School and the Panora High School. She then worked various jobs for several years.
On October 26, 1968, she was united in marriage to Gary Lee Rasmussen in Winterset, Iowa. They were blessed with two children Joyce Ann and Gary Eugene. Terry was a home maker for several years. In 1976 she received her Certified Nurse’s Assistant designation and was employed at the Greenfield Manor in Greenfield, Iowa where she worked for several years. Later she worked for nursing homes in Panora, Iowa and Coon Rapids, Iowa until she had to retire due to her failing health. In 2004, they moved to their present home in Hamlin, Iowa.
Terry was a member of the Hamlin Lutheran Church in Hamlin, Iowa. She enjoyed making crafts, crocheting, and playing cards. She also enjoyed cooking and baking. Terry was a bird lover and had several parakeets and enjoyed watching and feeding them.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her brother Lester James Baird; here sister Loretta L. Lowe; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law John and Helen Rasmussen.
Survivors include her husband Gary Lee Rasmussen of Hamlin, Iowa; her children Joyce A. Rasmussen and Gary Eugene Rasmussen both of Exira, Iowa; her brothers and sisters Lloyd M. Baird, Jr. of Omaha, Nebraska, Mary Ann Kennedy and Marsha McClean both of Texas, Jack Baird of Jefferson, Iowa, Ronald Baird of Des Moines, Iowa, Charles Baird of Ames, Iowa, Linda McGaugh of Texas, Julius Baird and Michael Baird both of Trenton, Missouri; her brother-in-law Jack Rasmussen of Atlantic, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Steven Frock on Monday afternoon July 25, 2016, at 3:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira, Iowa. Interment will be in the Exira Cemetery in Exira, Iowa. Honorary casket bearers will be Charles Templeman, Vicki Templeman, Dr. Willie McClairen, Labertha McClairen, Jack Rasmussen, Lloyd “Chip” Baird, III, and Charles Griffith. The casket bearers will be Gary Eugene Rasmussen and Kent Andersen. The family will meet with friends on Monday afternoon from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the service at 3:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira, Iowa.
