Thelma Minkner

December 15, 1918 — January 18, 2010

Thelma Estella (Krumm) Minkner was born December 15, 1918, the daughter of George Martin and Bertha Sophia (Huss) Krumm in Chamberlin, South Dakota. She passed away Monday, January 18, 2010, at the Millard Good Samaritan Home in Millard, Nebraska.

The family moved to Adair when Thelma was young. She went to school in Adair graduating from Adair High School in 1936.

Thelma worked at the Drug Store in Adair where she met her husband, Cleo Russell Minkner. They married in 1939 and shortly thereafter moved to Atlantic.

She also worked as the secretary at the Adair Lutheran Church as well as several other churches. She was a member of the We TanYe Club and a Girl Scout Leader. Thelma valued her church and her faith, being active in her circle, teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir. She enjoyed music and telling stories, especially ones with jokes. She will be remembered for her devotion to her children and her grandchildren. They were the center of her life.


Surviving Thelma are her daughter, Ann (Leroy) Millard of Bella Vista, Arkansas, her son, Jon Minkner of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Marcy (Rick) Maxwell of Omaha, Nebraska, Kelly ( P.J.) Gorman of Glendale, Arizona, and Andrew Sydow of Phoenix, Arizona; great-grandchild, Clay Ogden of Fremont, Nebraska; and many other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Cleo; her daughter, Kay Minkner; her son, Craig Minkner in infancy; and nine siblings

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 22, 2010, at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Adair, Iowa. No visitation has been scheduled.

Hockenberry Family Care of Atlantic, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
