Theresa Ann Brincks, age 93, of Anita, IA, passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at The New Homestead in Guthrie Center, IA.
Theresa was born May 18, 1928, the daughter of Nicholas and Anna (Weihs) Gubbels on a farm near Westphalia, Iowa. She attended school at St. Boniface Catholic School in Westphalia, Iowa, and graduated with the Class of 1946, where she excelled in basketball and enjoyed playing the piccolo.
Theresa was the youngest sibling of 9 children, where she helped on the farm and was a waitress until she met and married John W. Brincks, of Anita, Iowa, where they married on May 1, 1965, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Westphalia, Iowa. The couple raised their children on the farm near Adair, Iowa, and continued to live until John’s death on April 30, 2010.
Theresa was a long-time member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Adair, Iowa. Theresa loved her faith, practiced it faithfully, and prayed for many on a daily basis. She loved to be out in her garden tending to her beautiful flowers and vegetables, where she spent many hours canning and preparing food for the family. She also helped on the farm and enjoyed spending time in the kitchen. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and hearing about their achievements.
Preceding Theresa in death were her parents, husband, and infant daughter, Jana Marie Brincks; 6 sisters, Edna Gubbels, whom died at birth, Marie Gubbels, Lucille (Norbert) Krienert, Rita (Tony) Wageman, Genevieve (Donald) Korth, Lorraine (Harold) Korth, and 2 brothers, Harry (Lorena) Gubbels, and Nicholas Jr. (Marge) Gubbels.
Surviving Theresa are her three sons, Gail (Anne) Brincks of Adair, Iowa, Dennis (Shanna) Brincks of Rosendale, Missouri, and Dan Brincks of LaCrescent, Minnesota. Grandchildren, Logan and Luke Brincks of Adair, Iowa, and Brayden and Brylie Brincks of Rosendale, Missouri, and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at St. John's Catholic Church in Adair, IA. Burial will take place at St. John's Catholic Cemetery just south of Adair, IA. Luncheon will be held following the committal at the St. John's Catholic Hall.
Visitation with family present will take place from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., with a rosary service at 7:00 on Friday, January 7, 2022, at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Adair, IA.
