Theressa “Terrie” Ellen Blohm, the daughter of Carl and Betty (Hughes) Dennis, was born June 28, 1960, in Anderson, Indiana and died August 5, 2021, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 61 years, 1 month and 8 days.
Terrie started school in Anderson, Indiana until the family moved to Audubon, Iowa where she attended the Audubon Community Schools. Following her schooling, Terrie worked several jobs in the Audubon area before she became the bartender at her parent’s establishment Car-Bet’s Lounge. She worked there until they sold the business.
On February 1, 1985, she was united in marriage to David Blohm at the Faith Fellowship Church in Audubon. She was employed at Casey’s General Store in Audubon for a number of years then worked in housekeeping at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital until she was forced to retire in 2016 due to her failing health. She lived in Audubon then moved to Guthrie Center in 2019 to be closer to her daughter Tasha.
Terrie was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Audubon. She enjoyed baking, with Christmas candies being one of favorites. You could often find her doing crafts of many sorts but above all she loved to go fishing with her daughters and grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her brother Dennis Drake.
Survivors include her daughters, Tasha and husband Paul Hawkins of Guthrie Center, Iowa, and Kendall Drake of Arizona; her grandchildren: McKenzie Taylor and Paul Hawkins, Jr., Tashayla Ihnken, Dante Anstey, Brody Drake, and Olivia Barczy; her brothers and sisters: Paul and wife Teresa Dennis of Middletown, Indiana, John and wife Neecole Drake of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Kelly and husband Devin Beaty of Atlantic, Iowa, and Conda and husband Jerry Thompson of Audubon, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The Celebration of Life Memorial Graveside Service will be conducted by Pastor Kathy Kluis on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa.
