Twila Maxine Osborn-Garside, age 76, of Adair, IA, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, IA, after a two-year long battle with cancer. She was born at the Booth Memorial Hospital in Des Moines, IA on April 23, 1947, to Lois Pearl Osborn and Merle Conrad of Casey, IA. She graduated from Adair-Casey High School in 1965.
Twila worked at the USPS in Des Moines, IA, and later supervised the Printing Department at the Des Moines General Hospital. On October 15, 1988, Twila Osborn and Lee Garside married and in 1999 she came home to work on the family farm while Lee deployed in 2003 for the National Guard in Iraq.
Twila’s passion was in training and trialing her beloved dogs in shows and raising miniature horses. She loved traveling with her friends and family to visit different western states. Twila loved planting in her flower beds each Spring lit up by her solar lights.
She was preceded in death by her parents Merle and Lois Conrad, Aunts & Uncles, Evelyn "Polly" Hocamp, Velva Potter; in-laws, Lois and Carl Nelson and Darrell Carlson, and her beloved trial dogs London, Trooper, and Effie.
Twila is survived by her husband, Lee Garside of Adair; son, Robert Conrad of Iowa City, IA; grandchildren, Delaney and Ava Conrad; in-laws, Lyle Garside (Norma), Leo (Elane) Garside, Linda Carlson, Laurel (Bob) Lehman, and her beloved dogs Walker and Willow and miniature horses Dallas and CJ.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at the United Methodist Church in Adair, IA, with Rev. Charlene Wolfe officiating, and burial will follow at the Sunnyhill Cemetery in Adair. Visitation with the family present will be held on Wednesday at the church from 9 am till the time of services. Memorials in lieu of flowers can be made to Des Moines Obedience Training Club, United Methodist Church in Adair, IA, or American Cancer Society and can be left or mailed to the funeral home at P.O. Box 523 – Atlantic, IA 50022.
