Virginia Peterson

Virginia Irene Peterson, 92, of Casey, Iowa, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2015, at Guthrie County Hospital, in Guthrie Center, Iowa.

Virginia Irene Peterson was born July 9, 1923, in Adair County, Iowa, the daughter of Harley and Gladys (Zanders) Charles. She grew up in Adair County where she attended rural schools and graduated in 1941. She worked in Chehalis, Washington, at Sears Roebuck Company Catalog ordering center.

On September 4, 1943, she was married to Vernon Peterson at Chehalis, Washington. Upon returning to Iowa, they lived in Adair County the remainder of their lives.

She enjoyed raising a big garden, canning goods for winter supply, loved to sew, do crafts and loved to bake and cook for the family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon; parents; daughter-in-law; and other family members.

Virginia is survived by her children, Albert and friend Vicki Gaskill of Des Moines, Iowa, Shirley (Craig) Simmons of Muse, Oklahoma, and Rex (Michaelle) of Casey, Iowa; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. with the funeral starting at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at Canby Friends Church in Canby, Iowa.

Burial will be in the Canby Friends Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to family's wishes.
