Walter Herman Boldt

Walter Herman Boldt, the son of Fred and Louisa Nieman Boldt, was born September 29, 1908 at his parents’ home near Garrett, Indiana and died October 25, 2011 at the Exira Care Center in Exira, Iowa at the age of 103 years and 26 days. Walter was baptized in Auburn, Indiana. When Walter was three months old, the family moved to Audubon County, Iowa. He was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lincoln Township, Audubon County, Iowa. He attended rural school in Audubon County and then helped operate the family farm. On March 5, 1930 he was united in marriage to Lillian H. Miller at her parents’ home in Douglas Township, Audubon County. They operated several area farms then purchased a farm in Douglas Township. They moved into Audubon in 1951 where Walter worked various jobs. He was a bartender at the V.F.W. and at other local establishments and also did carpentry work. They returned to the farm in 1961 which they operated until retiring in 1973. They moved back in to Audubon but Walter continued to help on the farm. Lillian died August 8, 1985. Walter continued to help on the farm then later moved to the Exira Care Center in Exira on October 19, 2010 at the age of 102. Walter was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa. Walter enjoyed watching baseball and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He enjoyed dancing, playing cards and playing pool. Preceding him in death were his wife Lillian H. Boldt; his parents; his brothers and sisters: Rosa and husband Carl Diedrich, Carl and wife Rebecca Boldt, Minnie Schultz, Gladys and husband Arthur Nielsen, Arthur and wife Anna Marie Boldt. Survivors include his son Charles and wife Paulette Boldt of Audubon, Iowa; his grandchildren: Jason and wife Ann Boldt of Kansas City, Missouri; Sheila and husband Travis Partridge of Elk Horn, Iowa; his great granddaughters: Alyson Boldt, Emily Boldt, Ainsley Boldt all of Kansas City; and Shelbi Partridge of Elk Horn; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa.

Visitation:
The family will meet friends Friday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon.

Service:
Funeral Service will be conducted by Pastor Doug Opp on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa.
