Wanda Berg

Wanda Lee Rathman was born on September 11, 1933, the daughter of Victor John and Adella (Palmer) Rathman in Massena, Iowa, and passed away Monday, January 2, 2012, at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center in Atlantic, Iowa.

As a child, Wanda lived on a farm north of Anita. Her family later moved to Atlantic where she attended the Atlantic High School.

On March 28, 1950 she married Delmar Leroy Berg in Audubon, Iowa. The couple lived on a farm near Cumberland until 1984, when they moved into Cumberland.

Wanda worked on the farm with Delmar and also worked at the Cumberland Senior Center for a number of years. She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Wiota, Iowa, where she was active in the Ladies Aid and the Quilting group. She was a charter member of the Neighborhood Card Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents Victor and Adella Rathman.

Wanda is survived by her husband, Delmar Berg of Cumberland, Iowa; her son, Rex Berg of Atlantic, Iowa; her daughter, Lin (Kurt) Briley of Omaha, Nebraska: her grandchildren, Nicholas (fiancé, Allison Rocke) Briley and Bethany Briley all of Omaha, Nebraska; her sister, Norma (Jerry) Anderson of Denver, Colorado; her sisters-in-law, Lorraine Tharp of Denver, Colorado, Ivadell Thomas of Ankeny, Iowa, and Bonnie Knott of Griswold, Iowa.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wiota, Iowa, with burial in the First Lutheran Cemetery. Lunch will be served following the burial in the church fellowship hall.

Memorials may be made to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church Ladies Aid.
