William Dean Groteluschen

William Dean Groteluschen, the son of Theodore and Laura Sander Groteluschen, was born December 27, 1935 in Coon Rapids, Iowa and died August 8, 2012 at his home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 76 years, 7 months, and 11 days. Bill was baptized in Coon Rapids, Iowa and confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon, Iowa. He attended Audubon Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1954. He attended college graduating from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado with a degree in business. Bill was employed by Watson Bros. Truckline first in Sioux City, Iowa and later was transferred to Los Angeles, California. Bill moved to Texas where he sold insurance for a short time. He moved to Des Moines, Iowa and was employed as an insurance investigator for Retail Credit Corporation and later attended Drake University School of Law. On June 2, 1963, he was united in marriage to Joyce Chambers at the Methodist Church in Pleasantville, Iowa. Three sons, Paul, Steven, and Neal were born to this union. Bill graduated from Drake Law School in 1965 and was employed at Raun and Franck Law Firm in Denison, Iowa for several years then moved to Sioux City, Iowa and worked for Postal Finance Company in their legal department for a short time. They moved to Des Moines, Iowa and he was the City Solicitor for the City of Des Moines. In 1976 they moved to Audubon and started his own law practice and then later became a partner with Madsen, Groteluschen, and Tinker Law Firm. Bill loved sports and enjoyed playing golf, and especially tennis. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoyed watching them play. Bill was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon, Iowa and served on the Board of Trustees. He was a member of the Audubon Lion’s Club and a member of the Audubon Chamber of Commerce. He was a charter member and served as President of the Audubon County Community Foundation and served as the Audubon City Attorney. He was a member of the American Bar Association and the Iowa State Bar Association. Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers and sister: James Allen Groteluschen; Robert Groteluschen; and Lou Ann and husband Lowell Cooper; his brother-in-law Harold I. Jensen and sister-in-law Marlene Chambers. Survivors include his wife Joyce Groteluschen of Audubon, Iowa; his sons: Paul and wife Lori Groteluschen of Urbandale, Iowa; Steven Groteluschen of Austin, Texas; Neal Groteluschen of West Des Moines, Iowa; his grandchildren: Hunter Groteluschen and Peyton Groteluschen both of Urbandale; his sisters: Lila Jean Jensen and husband Paul Walther of Audubon; Joan and husband Alfonso Valenzuela of Tucson, Arizona; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Dorothy Groteluschen of Audubon; Carol Worthington of Pleasantville, Iowa; Shirley and husband Kenneth McBroom of Garden Grove, Iowa; David Chambers of Des Moines, Iowa; Janet and husband Martin Boots of Pleasantville; Mary and husband Sam Crabb of Swan, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa.

Visitation:
The family will meet with friends on Friday evening at 6:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon.

Service:
Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 11, 2012, at 10:30 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon, Iowa.
