William Miller

William W. Miller, 74, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away on August 12, 2007, at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

William Wendell Miller was born on January 23, 1933, to Lewis Dale and Elva (Bolton) Miller in the Wheeler Grove area near Carson, Iowa.

In December of 1952, he was married to Mildred Botts.

Bill graduated from Elliott High School in 1951, and attended the University of Iowa. He received his 2nd Lieutenant Commission in the United States Army in 1956. Bill served in the Artillary and Ordinance Corps for 20 years. During that time he was stationed at several posts in the States and served for six years as a military liaison in several countries in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Vietnam. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel at Ft. Hood, Texas in 1976. Following retirement from the Army he was a Cass County Magistrate for fourteen years.

William is survived by his wife, Mildred of Atlantic; daughters, Carla Hodder of Omaha, Nebraska, Cynthia Adams and her husband, Rex of Omaha, Nebraska, and Catherine Perdue and her husband, Kenneth of Griswold, Iowa; grandchildren, Sandra Leighton and her husband, Matt, and John Perdue of Griswold, Iowa; sister, Kay Miller of Lincoln, Nebraska; and mother-in-law, Ethel Botts of Grant, Iowa.

He is preceded in death by his son, William Miller, Jr. in 2003; his parents; and father-in-law.

A private graveside memorial service will be held at the Elliott Cemetery at a later date.
