William (Bill) Pierce Beatty, 60, of Avon, Colorado, formerly of Atlantic, died June 4, 2015, at his home.
Bill was born May 11, 1955, in Des Moines, Iowa, to William and Mildred (Pierce) Beatty. Bill attended school in Indianola, Osceola, and Atlantic, graduating from Atlantic High School in 1973. As a youth, he was an active member of the Atlantic United Methodist Church. He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, graduating with a Bachelor's of Science degree in business administration in 1977. While he was at the University of Nebraska, he became a life-long fan of the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers football and enjoyed attending many home games in Lincoln.
After graduation, Bill worked for banks in Iowa, Minnesota, Montana and Colorado. He retired in 2014, and was enjoying time spent with friends and family.
Bill loved the mountains of Colorado, as well as Yellowstone National Park, visiting there many times. He loved to explore new areas, especially in the American West.
He was a loyal New York Yankee baseball fan. He loved reading and enjoyed discussing the books he had read with others. Bill will be missed by his family and friends.
Bill is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Arthur and Sara (Ireland) Pierce and his paternal grandparents, Alvin and Rachel (Henry) Beatty.
Bill is survived by his parents, William and Mildred Beatty of Atlantic, IA; a sister and brother - in-law, Emily and Bruce Jordan of West Bend, WI; two nephews, Jeffrey Jordan of Denver, CO and Nicholas Jordan of Madison, WI. He is survived by many relatives and friends.
Visitation with family will be from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. with a memorial service starting at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic, Iowa. Interment of ashes will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
