Willus Mundorf

Willus George Mundorf, was born February 12, 1922, to George and Syrilda (Short) Mundorf, in Blair, Nebraska. He passed away Friday, April 8, 2011, at the Exira Care Center in Exira, Iowa, at the age of 89.

Willus attended country school in Blair, NE, graduating in 1940. He married Bernice Goldbeck on May 24, 1942. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served overseas during WWII. He and Bernice lived on a farm in Blair where they raised five children. In 1966 they moved to Atlantic, Iowa, where he farmed, then later owned and operated Mundorf Hog Market. They returned to Blair after retiring in 1988.

Willus loved fishing and took many trips to Valentine, NE, South Dakota and Montana. He enjoyed gardening, mowing and believed in working hard.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his sons, Gary Mundorf and Dennis Mundorf; great-grandson, Jarrod Borsch; sisters, Lorraine Taylor and Ardelle Moulder; his twin brother, Willard Mundorf; and his brother, Clifford Mundorf.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice of Exira; son, Steve Mundorf and friend Paula of Atlantic; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and George Briggs of Herman, NE; daughter, Carol Sparks of Overland Park, Kansas; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic. Visitation will be from noon - 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, prior to the service. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
