Zelma Marie Pangburn, 91, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center in Atlantic, Iowa.
She was born on July 29, 1922, in Cumberland, Iowa, the daughter of Jess and Grace (Cozad) Logue. Zelma attended Cumberland schools through the 8th grade. On May 3, 1941, she was united in marriage to Max Aaron Pangburn in Bethany, Missouri. Born to this union were two sons, Jack and Merrill. During her working years she was a waitress at several restaurants in Atlantic and was a homemaker.
She was a strong spirited woman, who also had a quick wit. Zelma knew how to keep up with her son, Jack's, sense of humor and jokes! She loved flowers, she had all kinds and colors in her yard. Zelma enjoyed working outdoors in her huge vegetable garden and flower beds. She used to walk to downtown Atlantic daily, when she was in good health. Her favorite hobbies were putting puzzles together, doing crossword puzzles and watching Wheel of Fortune.
Zelma is survived by her son, Jack and wife Rose of Atlantic, IA; step-son, Max Lee and wife Marlene of Atlantic; 5 granddaughters; Kandy Betances and husband Joe of Harlan, IA, Donna Gehling and husband Phil of Atlantic, Tina Marie Keasey and husband Kevin of Atlantic, Tina Lois Brosam and husband Jeff of Atlantic, Marita Russmann and husband Tom of Avoca, IA, Marlo Stamp and husband Rob; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 4 brothers, Wayne Logue of Atlantic, Jim Logue and wife Carol of Atlantic, Dale Logue and wife Amelia of San Matea, CA, Louis Logue and wife Rosemary of Menlo Park, CA; 2 sisters, Luella Smith of Hamlin, IA and Betty Alice Mudd of Minneapolis, MN; her sister-in-law, Verlee Logue of Columbia, MO; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Grace Logue; her husband, Max Pangburn; son, Merrill Pangburn; daughter-in-law, Esther Pangburn; brothers, Lloyd Logue and Edwin Logue; sister Gloria Logue; and brother-in-law, Lyle Smith.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 14, 2014, at the Sunnyhill Cemetery in Adair.
